Playlist: The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw

Hey everyone!

I know I’ve been gone a lot recently, and I apologize! I’m trying to get back on a schedule. Today I have a playlist I made for The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw, which is one of my favorite reads so far this year! The Wicked Deep is such an atmospheric book, so it was impossible for my mind to not want to immediately assign music to the story and characters. I don’t want to ramble too much, so let’s just jump right in to the music.

Bury by Unions

“Blood on my hands

And the moonlit sand

But I’d die just to keep them under

Oooh, gonna bury me”

Leave My Body by Florence + The Machine

“I’m gonna leave my body

(Moving up to higher ground)

I’m gonna lose my mind

(History keeps pulling me down)”

There’s A Ghost by Fleurie

“There’s a ghost, she’s wearing my face

At parties being introduced with my name

Just a skeleton of bones, wearing nothin’ but clothes

And she is paralyzing”

Running Up That Hill by Placebo

“And if I only could,

I’d make a deal with God

And I’d get him to swap our places”

Never Let Me Go by Florence + The Machine

“And the arms of the ocean are carrying me

And all this devotion was rushing out of me

And the crashes are heaven, for a sinner like me

But the arms of the ocean delivered me”

The Curse by Agnes Obel

“The curse ruled from the underground down by the shore

And their hope grew with a hunger to live unlike before”

Breathe by Fleurie

“I feel you holding me

Tighter, I cannot see

When will we finally breathe?”

Silhouettes by Of Monsters and Men

“It’s so hard letting go

I’m finally at peace, but it feels wrong”

The Devil Within (Piano Version) by Digital Daggers

“I will keep quiet, you won’t even know I’m here

You won’t suspect a thing, you won’t see me in the mirror

But I crept into your heart, you can’t make me disappear”

Fear of the Water by SYML

“You’re dislocated, don’t be like that

And you smile when you dive in, like you’re never coming back

So hold my body, yeah, hold my breath

See your face when I black out, I’m never coming back”
