I’m here today to do the “I Dare You” book tag. I was tagged by Karen Jo at Sincerely Karen Jo. The rules for this tag are as follows:
- You must be honest
- You must answer all of the questions
- You must tag at least 4 people
Let’s get started!
1 – WHAT BOOK HAS BEEN ON YOUR SHELF THE LONGEST?
Oh goodness… That’s actually a tough one. I’m pretty sure that it has to be Fallen by Lauren Kate. I think it’s the first book I bought for myself as a teen, because the cover was dark and moody (or at least 13 year old me thought so), and I fancied myself to be dark and moody.
2 – WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT READ, YOUR LAST READ, AND THE BOOK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
I’m not too sure what I’ll pick up next, because I have to go through ARCs and see if I have any that come out soon. As I’m writing this, I’m kind of in between books, so I don’t really have a current read either. However, I just finished two books today: Tell Me No Lies by A.V. Geiger and Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff.
3 – WHAT BOOK DID EVERYONE LIKE, BUT YOU HATED?
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Whoops.
4 – WHAT BOOK DO YOU KEEP TELLING YOURSELF YOU’LL READ, BUT YOU PROBABLY WON’T?
I don’t like admitting defeat, so I’m not too sure about this one. I will say that I’ve been planning on doing a Harry Potter reread for like… Two years, and it hasn’t happened yet, sooooooo…
5 – WHAT BOOK ARE YOU SAVING FOR YOUR RETIREMENT?
I mean, I’m not purposefully saving any books, but I have about six million books on my TBR, so there’s bound to be *something* left by then.
6 – LAST PAGE – READ IT FIRST OR WAIT TIL’ THE END?
Only in very specific circumstances will I read the last page first. I will shamelessly admit I read the last page of The Retribution of Mara Dyer first because there were things I needed to… Confirm… Before I read the book. Otherwise, I don’t look at the last page until it’s actually time to read it. I like to experience stories naturally.
7 – ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: WASTE OF PAPER AND INK, OR INTERESTING ASIDE?
Honestly, I don’t read them, but it’s a great opportunity for authors to thank everyone who helped out along the way.
8 – WHICH BOOK CHARACTER WOULD YOU SWITCH PLACES WITH?
I just saw WhittyNovels talking about Chapter 62 of Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi, and that has swayed my answer to be Juliette Ferrars. *wink wink nudge nudge*
9 – DO YOU HAVE A BOOK THAT REMINDS YOU OF SOMETHING SPECIFIC IN YOUR LIFE? (PLACE, TIME, PERSON?)
The Names They Gave Us by Emery Lord brought me back to when my mom found out about her heart failure and was in and out of hospitals.
10 – NAME A BOOK THAT YOU ACQUIRED IN AN INTERESTING WAY
I have a copy of The Catcher in the Rye that I acquired after my ex boyfriend’s best friend stole it from the high school and left it at my ex’s house.
11 – HAVE YOU EVER GIVEN A BOOK AWAY FOR A SPECIAL REASON TO A SPECIAL PERSON?
Nope. I gave my mom my Hunger Games trilogy, and my brother in law the Maze Runner trilogy, purely because I hated the books and didn’t want them, so I guess that’s not too special.
12 – WHICH BOOK HAS BEEN WITH YOU MOST PLACES?
I don’t travel with books, because I’m a horribly forgetful person and I’d lose them everywhere, so I guess the books I had when I moved.
13 – ANY “REQUIRED READING” YOU HATED IN HIGH SCHOOL THAT WASN’T SO BAD TWO YEARS LATER?
I haven’t reread anything from high school.
14 – USED OR BRAND NEW?
Whatever is cheap and in good condition works for me, tbh.
15 – HAVE YOU EVER READ A DAN BROWN BOOK?
Nope. Don’t really plan on it either.
16 – HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A MOVIE THAT YOU LIKED MORE THAN THE BOOK?
The Hunger Games. I’m still not the biggest fan of the movies, but I like them a heck of a lot more than I do the books.
17 – HAVE YOU EVER READ A BOOK THAT’S MADE YOU HUNGRY, COOKBOOKS INCLUDED?
Oh my goodness. Lake of Destiny or Bell of Eternity, both by Martina Boone!
18 – WHO IS THE PERSON WHOS BOOK ADVICE YOU’LL ALWAYS TAKE?
I can’t really say that there’s anyone that I 100% match up with when it comes to taste in books. I get my suggestions from Booktube, and even then it’s more of what sounds good to me.
19 – IS THERE A BOOK OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE (OUTSIDE OF YOUR USUAL READING GENRE) THAT YOU ENDED UP LOVING?
I recently read and loved Our Dark Stars by Audrey Grey and Krystal Wade, which is a YA scifi. I don’t usually like scifi, but I loved that book.
And now to tag a few people. I’m just going to tag a few random people, so feel free to ignore the tag if you don’t want to do it!
