Recommendations.. With a Twist

Hey guys!

As you can tell from the title of this post, this is going to be another “Recommendations” post. You can read my first recommendations post here. I’m going to be doing things a little differently this time around. Like last time, I’ll give you guys a few titles that I’ve recently read and loved, or some old favorites that I have been really dying to re-read recently. This month, I’m also throwing in one ARC that I received and loved which is releasing very soon. I’m basically giving you a look into my head, and what books have really been on my radar recently. The twist to this post is that I’m going to be asking you guys for your recommendations from a specific genre at the end of the post. If it works out, I’ll be adding this feature to all recommendations posts in the future. I have actually reviewed all of the titles that I selected for this list, so I’ve linked my review to the covers, if you’d like to check out my thoughts on each book. Now that we’ve got all of that out of the way, let’s go right into my recommendations for May (almost June) 2015…

the witch hunter

an ember in the ashes

ill meet you there

the union

the wrath and the dawn

cover2500

Like I said at the beginning of the post, I’m going to be asking you guys for some recs from a specific genre. I’ve actually got two subgenres that I’m looking for. The genres I’m really looking to get into more are…

New Adult Contemporary or Paranormal Romance

Yes, I’m dying to explore some New Adult. I feel like I have only found a handful of New Adult books that I really loved, so I’m turning to you guys to help me find some more, and help more explore the genre more completely. Give me your best recommendations in the comments. Though I appreciate New Adult books that aren’t oversexed, I don’t have any issues with mature or darker themes as long as they’re done well, so please don’t hold back on the racier titles. 🙂

  1. When it comes to Adult Fiction I always recommend the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. It’s one of my favorite series. At the moment I’m reading a short series by Keri Arthur. Most of her works revolve around paranormal romance I believe. I’ve only read a few of her shorter series so far, but I really enjoy her writing style and am planning on reading more of her stuff, if you want to check her out. I also enjoyed the Dreg City series by Kelly Meding. The Sookie Stackhouse series (the novels TrueBlood is based off of) by Charlaine Harris is pretty good. Also, the Aisling Grey: Guardian series by Katie MacAlister.
I wouldn’t really call any of those series new, but if you’re interested check them out! 🙂 I’ll post a link to the first book in each series below.
    Storm Front by Jim Butcher

Three Days to Dead by Kelly Meding

Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

You Slay Me by Katie MacAlister

And then if you find any of Keri Arthur’s series interesting let me know and I’ll tell you which ones I’ve read! 🙂 I hope this was helpful!

    1. Thanks for the recs! I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Dresden Files series, and I’ve also been thinking about trying out the Sookie Stackhouse series, as I like True Blood quite a bit. I’m gonna check out all of these. 🙂

      1. No problem! I’ve only watched the first season of TrueBlood…a long time ago actually, and I can’t remember much but I didn’t mind it. From what I saw it veers off quite a bit from the books but personally I think the books are better. I’ll probably try watching the rest of the show…eventually xD Sounds good and definitely let me know what you think if you decide to read any! 🙂

  3. A couple of good titles I can recommend that have plenty of romance but not over the top, explicit sex are:

Caught Up In You by Colee Firman – 4-1/2 stars
The Way We Fall (The Story of Us #1) by Cassia Leo – 4 stars and anxiously awaiting the next book
The Problem with Crazy (Crazy in Love #1) by Lauren K. McKellar – 5 stars and a big fat ugly cry
Eleven Weeks (Crazy in Love #2) by Lauren K. McKellar – 5 stars
The Real Thing by Cassie Mae – 4-1/2 Stars
The True Blue Series by Jules Barnard – all 4 or 5 stars

    And my top two recommendations:
A mystery with a sweet side of romance: Her Dark Places (Sutton Files #1) by Kelly Killarney – 5 Stars
A modern day Thor set in England – Elsker by S.T. Bende – 4 Stars but such a unique story I probably should have rated it 5, especially since more than a year later, I’m still thinking about it.

    1. Ahh! Thank you! I’ve actually been eyeballing The Way We Fall for a while, and I think I’m gonna finally pick it up. I just added all of these to my TBR.

Also, I had to chuckle at “5 stars and a big fat ugly cry”. Definitely been there.
